Harrison Coleman joined the firm in 2004, opened the firm’s Atlanta office in 2005 and is a third generation partner and shareholder. Harrison’s real estate practice is concentrated in the representation of owners, lenders and asset management companies in the resolution of problem loans or equity investments and the legal aspects of the ongoing management of real estate owned (REO) assets. Harrison is currently serving as coordinating special counsel to one of the country’s largest and most respected rated loan servicers and performs any number of the following daily tasks for that client and other lending institutions:
- Restructuring of whole bank and multi-lender non-performing asset and problem loan portfolios including the negotiation of forbearance, modification and pre-workout agreements.
- Disposition management of problem loan and REO assets including the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, coordination of REO closings, litigation management and portfolio resolution strategies including foreclosures, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, note sales and borrower discounted payoffs.
- Management of attorneys, staff and title insurance companies responsible for title examination, abstraction and clearance.
- Oversight of asset management risk analysis including borrower bankruptcy, lender liability and competing creditor’s rights and interests.
- Drafting and negotiation of real estate listing agreements, property management agreements and other third-party service contracts for REO assets.
- Drafting of rent direction letters, oversight of landlord/tenant legal matters and review and analysis of property owner association governance matters.
In addition to his real estate practice, Harrison has extensive experience in corporate legal matters for small to mid-sized companies including entity formation, governance and regulatory matters, labor and employment, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions.
Harrison is a lecturer for continuing education classes for the Georgia Bankers Association, Georgia’s banking trade organization. Harrison’s seminars focus on real estate loan due diligence procedures, loan documentation, loan participations, foreclosure, REO asset management and lender liability matters.
Harrison is a member of The Nine O’Clocks social club, the Judicial Invitational Golf Tournament, the Episcopal High School Alumni Association, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Peachtree Park Civic Association.
Harrison and his wife Amanda are the proud parents of three children and attend Buckhead Church in Atlanta.
