Mark A. Gilbert joined the firm in 2009. He is a partner practicing in the areas of Bankruptcy, Creditor’s Rights, Collections and Civil Trial Practice. He focuses his practice on the representation of Creditors in all aspects of civil litigation, bankruptcy, preference defense and adversary proceedings including trial and appellate practice. Mark represents creditor interests in all state and federal courts in Georgia, as well as pro hac vice appearances in federal courts across the United States.

Mark received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in business administration in 1989 from Northern Arizona University (summa cum laude) and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1993 from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, where he was President of Pi Kappa Phi, and a member of the Brainerd Currie Honor Society.

Mark is a member of the Valdosta Bar Association and a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia, as well as, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Additionally, Mark served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia for over 12 years.

Mark is actively involved in the creditor community via continuing legal education where he lectures annually at bankruptcy and creditor rights conferences throughout the Southeast. His extensive experience developed from a combination of over 7,500 contested motions, trials and appeals over the past 18 years.
