The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation presented 29 awards recognizing the best of preservation in Georgia during its 42nd annual Preservation Awards ceremony on April 12 in Thomasville.

Coleman Talley’s building project at 109 South Ashley Street received an Excellence in Rehabilitation Award from the Georgia Trust, which recognizes projects that make compatible use of a building through repair, alterations, or additions while preserving features of the property that convey its historic value. Russ Henry, Tim Tanner, and Becky Pearson of Coleman Talley LLP and Celine Gladwin and Erin Vaughn of BFB Gladwin Architects accepted the project’s award at the Thomasville ceremony.

Rehabilitation on the Historic Southern Salvage buildings began in April 2017. The law office project was designed and completed by BFB Gladwin Architects and JCI Contractors, Inc. It represents the second largest private investment in the Historic Valdosta Commercial District, found on the National Register of Historic Places. The 22,000 square feet of the adjoining buildings house approximately 22 of Coleman Talley’s 35 attorneys. The project was completed in October 2018.

“Coleman Talley is honored to be recognized by the Georgia Trust for this prestigious award,” said Justin Scott, Managing Partner.

“This year’s winners represent a tremendous dedication to restoring and revitalizing Georgia’s historic buildings and communities,” said Mark C. McDonald, president of The Georgia Trust. “We are proud to honor such deserving projects and individuals.”
